Educate to Advocate, A Symposium on Immigration

  • St. Paul's Indy 6050 North Meridian Street Indianapolis, IN 46208 United States (map)

Saturday, April 12, 12-4 p.m., Parish Hall

Have you ever wished that you knew more about immigration? It's hard to advocate for justice when we don't know the particulars of the systems that continue to fail those who only seek a better life for themselves and their families.

Puentes and the Advocacy, Equity & Justice Committees are supporting the Puentes Youth Cohort in offering a Symposium on Immigration. Come and learn from important organizations and institutions providing for the immigrant community (La Plaza, Exodus Refugee, Neighborhood Christian Legal Clinic, Bethany Christian Services and others). In addition, the Puentes Youth will be selling t-shirts and pulseras (bracelets) to raise money for La Plaza, Indianapolis' largest organization providing wraparound services to the Latino community.

Our own Angelin Fisher, Legal Counsel and Director of Immigrant Services for the Neighborhood Christian Legal Clinic, will be presenting Immigration 101, giving participants firsthand knowledge of the laws and particulars of the immigration processes, as well as an overview of the rights of those seeking a path toward citizenship.

Participating organizations will also be presenting on their various services and involvement with the immigrant community.

Register to attend in Burrows Commons or notify Tana Hunnicutt in the church office, thunnicutt@stpaulsindy.org.
