A Bach Harvest Cantatas and Courtly Dances

  • St. Paul's Indy 6050 North Meridian Street Indianapolis, IN 46208 United States (map)

Sunday, November 17, 4-6 p.m., Sanctuary

All of J. S. Bach’s cantatas are special, but the two featured in this concert are proven standouts. Not only do they have familiar melodies (most notably the famous fourth movement of the cantata “Wachet auf,” found on all the greatest classical hits playlists), but their colorful depictions of the text render audiences speechless with their varied textures and emotions. Soloists Kristine Caswelch, Blake Beckemeyer and Charles Wesley Evans are partners in three love duets depicting Christ and the Soul. “Nun danket alle Gott” resonates for the time of year we observe and celebrate Thanksgiving, providing a rich feast for the ears and bountiful imagery of gratitude for our souls. Led by the Indianapolis Baroque Orchestra’s (IBO) world class concertmaster, Adriane Post and St. Paul's Director of Music, Brad Hughley there is much to savor in this music. Sample a plentiful harvest of Bach’s glorious music! General admission tickets are $30/each (senior and student rates available). All tickets are sold by IBO - click here to purchase tickets now. A 20% discount is offered to St. Paul’s parishioners, using the code STPAUL at checkout.
