More about Laurie Pierce:

I have served as the Director of Children, Youth and Family Ministry at St. Paul’s Indy since August 2021. Prior to my family’s move to Indianapolis, I served in the same role at St. Paul’s in Wilmington, NC from 2019-2021. I have loved playing kick ball in the rain, spontaneous hula hoop contests and connecting with parents during Parents Group.

My Bachelor of Arts degree is in Religion & Philosophy and Youth Ministry. I served in Peace Corps China for 2 years, teaching English at the University level and serving at an orphanage, along with leading multiple community events and groups.

Our culture at large fails to teach, much less acknowledge, our innate spiritual selves. I am here to help foster a community and provide space where children and parents can connect with their spiritual selves.  Through this connection, I believe our children can find resiliency and tools to carry with them throughout life.

I grew up Episcopalian in Pensacola, FL. I was formed into the person I am today through the community at my home church. I hold close memories of parish wide camp outs, mile long ice cream sundaes, and summer camp shenanigans.

Today I continue in the Episcopal tradition because of the identity and call as Christians to stand against racial injustice and strive for a more equitable society. I believe our children’s role in this call starts as soon as they can walk and talk. As director at St. Paul’s, I seek out all opportunities for our kids and families to stand for justice and help create a fuller picture of the Kingdom of God.
