The Rev. Jeff Bower

Aside from preaching, teaching and pastoral matters that are present in our parish, I am currently responsible for the ministries of financial stewardship (giving), coordinating the annual appeal and other items related to charitable giving, coordinating our ministries for newcomers and offer programs throughout the year to better acclimate individuals to life at St. Paul's, working as a liasion between the young adults group (without chidren) and the wider parish, and I am responsible for Puentes (our Latino ministries, both internally and externally), as we seek to become a more welcoming and diverse community and in response to the growing Latino population in Indianapolis.

Prior to coming to St. Paul's, I served for a decade as Vicar of a bilingual parish on Indy's west side (St. John's Episcopal Church, Speedway). My experience in developing collaborative partnerships and ministries of justice and inclusion has been at the forefront of my work. I have experience in advancement and fundraising and have held leadership positions both within the church and civically to that end. I have served as Associate Rector at St. Paul's since 2017.

I was among the founding board members of Trinity Haven, Indiana's first resident housing program to address housing insecurity, specific to LGBTQ Youth. I have served on many ministries of the Diocese of Indianapolis and most notably, chaired the Global Missions Commission for over six years, until 2022. Committed to lifelong learning, I am a candidate for a Doctor of Ministry, having completed my course work at Bexley Seabury Seminary Federation and am currently completing a one-year apprenticeship in Spiritual Direction.

When not working, I enjoy lake life with my husband, David, two dogs (Kodie and Hunter) and my children and their families. I have a great passion for renovation and creating inviting spaces for hospitality and welcome. My other great love is music. I am classically trained musician (both voice and piano) and enjoy participating and performing when I have the opportunity and time.
