Godly Play

The purpose of Godly Play is to engage the big questions of life and the mystery of God through story, wonder and play. Using Montessori pedagogy, Godly Play’s vision is to honor the inherent worth and dignity of every child while nurturing their unique spiritual journeys. It operates on the assumption that every child already has a deep, authentic relationship with God and the capacity to experience the mystery of God directly. (Godly Play Society)

‍ ‍

Godly Play meets every Sunday after Labor Day through the Sunday before Memorial Day, from 10:15-11 a.m. (except the first Sunday of the month).

‍ ‍

Classes follow the same flow each meeting time. They gather and share the “feast” together, hear a story, wonder about the story together by questioning the meaning, intent and consequences. Then, they choose a response which might involve retelling a story, exploring the altar vessels, and creating a drawing, mosaic or collage, etc.

‍You do not need to sign up prior to your child attending Godly Play; however, we ask that parents please provide emergency contact information so that we can reach a parent during class if necessary. We would love to have more information about you here, but it is not required.

Classrooms are on the second floor of the Parish Center Building. Drop off is at 10:15 a.m. Pick your child up at 11 a.m.

Classroom doors are locked during the class for safety reasons. The door will open when the class is finished. If you need to pick up your child early, knock gently on the door and an adult will help you.

‍ ‍

There are three classes:

Water Class - PreK and K

Fire Classes - 1st-3rd grade
