School #43 Update

Enrollment continues to grow at School #43; there are now 395 students. IREAD testing has been completed. An improvement in scores from Spring 2023 was noted. ILEARN testing will begin on April 15 with a kickoff rally to support and encourage students. Conferences were held on March 22 with parents having the option of an in-person or phone conference. Fifth-seventh graders are experiencing a transition time as they begin the process of moving to middle school. Students have visited Broad Ripple Middle School multiple times with a mixer scheduled for students to meet classmates from other schools. School #43 will be partnering with Butler University as they hold a middle school dance for transitioning students. Principal Sam and several teachers will be traveling to Denver, Colorado over spring break to observe Visual and Performing Arts schools; the district has approved four observation trips.

There will be a rebranding for School #43 next year, which will include the name, logo and wraps. The building entrance will be the site of the initial focus. The end of the year academic focus will be on increasing vocabulary and building background knowledge. The school is asking for donations for Teacher Appreciation week. They suggest adopting a grade and providing gift cards or items from teacher wish lists. Before the end of the school year, there will be a Literacy Parade and Blossom Bash. Canvas shoes are being requested for students to paint vases as part of one event. No one will be permitted in the building over the summer as construction will be occurring in multiple locations.
